On the Road Again! That was the steady theme throughout the Fall. From early September, through late December, a road trip a week was needed to gather the necessary photographs for the final project.

The purpose of Directed Study No. 1 was to take road tips and gather photos. In addition to taking photos, it was vital to research and gather historical photos of the 54 towns and cities I would venture through. The road trips were scheduled and broken up into the very same sections to be featured in the final project. The schedule and sections can be seen at by clicking on the links at left.
Every week before hitting the road, research was necessary, and route of each town was drawn up. .After each road trip, I would sort and back up all the photos, as well as find historical photographs and info.
Armed with my trusty tool kit which included a 2007 Nissan Frontier, my Trek Mountain Bike, Canon Rebel XT, a backpack of lenses, batteries, memory cards, cables, a Canon mini DVcam, and DV tapes, I pounded the pavement week in and out.
The Weather was beautiful and sunny through the first weekend of November, but in stark contrast, the remainder of November and December was wet, blustery, and often bitter. In fact, the last road trip saw Cain Johnson and myself caught up in a treacherous blizzard from Springfield to Mitchell. The two day blizzard forced an unplanned Spring '08 trip back down to cover the final section of Route 66 in Illinois.
My goal to travel and take photos of the buildings, landmarks, and points of interests on and along Route 66 in Illinois was an amazing experience that yielded thousands of photos that will provide a lifetime of creative opportunities in and out of Photoshop.
Lastly,a big thanks go out to all the wonderful folks I met along the way, as well as those close friends and family that took to the road with me. And finally, to Jim Cohen, my advisor for the 15 weeks of Directed Study 1.
